Blog

“@AdviceToWriters: Don’t get it right, just get it written. JAMES THURBER #amwriting #writing #writetip” Just get it written, kata pak Thurber.

I remember reading one of his short stories in college. Note, remember the act of reading, not the story itself. That's how forgetful I'm getting. Age is catching up on me.

I need to exercise my brain cells more. Or else they will wither and die. And that's just sad.

I started reading again. I have this sickness see? I would buy books to my heart's content, flip through them, and store them away. Sometimes I read them straight away, sometimes I would go through my book collection on the pretense of sorting through them and discovered amazing books that I couldn't recall buying or having.

I finally finished reading Nicole Krauss' The History of Love. She wrote the book around the same time as her husband Jonathan Safran Foer wrote Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. Both books have children as one of the central characters and these children dealt with the lost of their fathers. Both books were set in the city of New York. There's no point to this, just thought I'd share the similarities here.

Anyway, I've devised a plan to read one hundred books. Yes, I have close to one hundred unread books with me in the hutan. This means trips between KL to KK hauling books I don't even read, leaving me with arms aching but a satisfied hoarder's disposition. Now the count is at 5/100. Slowly I am hoping to finish reading them and I could start sending them home to Semenanjung. Wish me luck in achieving this.

That is all.
